The Canvas find bar searches the contents of an HTML box. If a search turns up nothing though the text is right there, say you look for 8:14 and get no matches, the issue is usually where the search is running.
- Put your cursor inside the HTML box first. Press
Ctrl+ForCmd+Fwhile focused inside the box. If your cursor is elsewhere, the browser’s own find runs instead and searches the page, not the box. - Check your match options. Case sensitivity and whole word matching will narrow results. Turn them off if you expect a looser match.
- Check your regular expression. With regex enabled, special characters are treated as patterns, so an unescaped character can make a search match nothing.
- Confirm you’re in a supported box. The find bar works in Custom HTML blocks, the code editor view, the classic editor, and the theme’s own settings and per page boxes.
The find bar runs only while you edit, and replacements are normal undoable edits, so trying a search never changes your live site.
