The free theme gives you one global header and footer. Pro lets you define multiple named sets and assign them automatically.
Create as many named header and footer sets as you need, then assign them by page, by category, or by URL pattern. A product section can carry one header, your blog another, and a campaign path a third, without editing each page by hand.
This is what turns Canvas from good for a handful of pages into capable of running a whole site. Instead of pasting the right header onto every new page, you set the rule once and matching pages pick up the correct set on their own.
Scheduling
Each set can carry a start and an end. Set a window and the set activates on the start date and steps back on its own when the window closes, with no reminder to come back and toggle it. A seasonal header, a sale footer, a campaign nav that runs for a week: schedule it once. Outside the window, the site falls back to the global header and footer.
