There are 3 things with Canvas in the name. Here is what each one is, so you can tell them apart quickly.
Loupely Canvas (the full free theme)
The complete free theme, with every feature: full width passthrough rendering, the global header and footer, head and body code injection, per page overrides, find and replace, and starter content. It also gives the header and footer their own tokens, for a logo, menus, the site title, and the year, and a Site basics section that gathers the logo, favicon, and menus in one place. You get it from GitHub and loupelycanvas.com. It is free and complete on its own.
Loupely Canvas Lite (the WordPress.org edition)
A review-compliant subset of the theme, listed in the WordPress.org directory for discoverability. It is also free. Lite is a subset of the full theme, not a separate, lesser product, and the full theme is free too. See the Lite article for exactly what it includes and leaves out.
Loupely Canvas Pro (the paid plugin)
A paid companion plugin that extends the free theme for multi-page sites. It adds a snippet library, named header and footer sets with scheduling, reusable page templates, a full page editor, named injections with conditional loading and scheduling, injection groups, custom post types with no PHP required, conflict detection, an injection error log, and selective import and export, and version history for everything Canvas manages. It is sold as an annual license through Freemius and never gates the free theme.
